Octopus
Sculpture
The sculpture Pillar octopus, the octopus is not simply placed on a base, but entirely integrated into it, creating a work where the animal and the structure are one. The tentacles wrap around the pillar, merging with it and reinforcing this idea of solid and fluid anchoring at the same time. The raku technique brings a wealth of textures and nuances, giving the octopus an almost organic appearance, as if it were born from the very material of the base.
This work joins Sylvie Bourdeau's other marine creations, in particular Falling octopus, with which she explores the link between the animal and its environment, while sublimating forms and movement.
